Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re a new client to Fancy’s, you may have a few questions. We invite you to take a few moments to browse through our frequently asked questions below. Should you not find the answer to a specific question, please feel free to contact us. We are more than happy to answer your questions!

  • Unfortunately no, your pet needs time to rest. Grooming can be stressful at times for them which then results into heavy movements that can possibly reopen an incision.

  • We need proof of vaccinations to insure the safety of our groomers and your pets. It reduces the risk of disease transmission between the dog and groomer, as well as between other dogs visiting the same dog grooming business.

  • No, waiting 48 hours after the initial injection helps insure that your pet is feeling up to par for a grooming service. Getting a vaccine can cause mild reactions to the vaccinations.

  • Of course! This is the best time to bring them in. It is very important to have your puppy groomed as soon as possible so they can get used to and learn to love the grooming experience. We recommend your puppy to come in two weeks after their last set of vaccinations. It’s recommended that we introduce the sights, sounds and smells of grooming to ensure that future visits are stress free. While your puppy may still be evolving into its adult coat, we recommend a consultation prior to the service of what haircut or trim will suit your puppy best.

  • The time taken will depend on the condition and length of your pets hair. We will contact you prior to the end of the services to advise what time you should pick up your pet.

  • During the check-in consultation we will give you an estimate. After the check-in process we then will proceed to give you an exact cost. Prices may change depending upon the conditions your pet is in at time of check in.

  • Absolutely NOT! We have a strictly no crate policy. Instead, our groomers will be assigned to each pet to give them lots of reassurance, love and play time while they wait for their turn for their spa day!

  • We offer a chargeable pet safe suite and a dog dash service. Life happens so if you are unable to collect your pet after their service has been completed, we can offer them a suite or drop your pet off to your home address at a time that is convenient for you to receive them.  Please note that the drop off time must be within our hours of operations.

  • Sadly no, your pet loves you so very much that they will wiggle and move around trying to get close to you which is not safe while we are using grooming tools. It is best to drop off your pet at their scheduled appointment time, and then come back when the treatment is finished. (We are thinking of possible doing a live stream so you can watch your dog online).

  • We strongly recommend that your pet has had a chance to relieve themselves. They may be hungry and will want to have a meal beforehand, but keep in mind if your pet is nervous, they might do better with an empty stomach.

  • Yes. Customers that are new to Fancys need to complete a New Client Registration form which enables us to provide an individualized treatment and care program for your pet when they visit us. We also will need a copy of your pets shot records.

  • The length and the type coat that your pet has will determine how often your pet needs to be groomed. You can check out our grooming services (here) for more details on your pets specific needs.

  • We recommend every three to four weeks. This insures their nails staying short longer by exposing the quick (vein) in the nail. Overtime by exposing the quick, it will start to recede back resulting in shorter nails as time goes on.

  • No, but we do recommend you call on the day before you’re planning to come in to reduce your wait time and to give our groomers a heads up to set aside time for your pup. Why not treat your pet and book them in for a Mani and Pawdi while they’re here!

  • The answer is yes. All dogs regardless of age can benefit from being groomed. However, aged, disabled, and ill pets required a little more than TLC during their grooming process. We have a special place in our hearts at Fancys for our aged pet companions and our staff have been trained on the individual considerations for special handling of these pets. We are experienced in working with deaf, blind, arthritic dogs, dogs with seizures and those with diabetes.  For those who do experience the list above, we offer a chargeable service of priority. Call now if you have any questions. If in any doubts please consult your vet who will help you to decide whether there would be any adverse risk in grooming your older dog.

  • Absolutely. One of our requirements as a groomer is to keep your pet feeling calm and safe. We do understand that some dogs may have had a scary/bad experience of grooming in the past but we can assure you, we are here to change that! For those that are particularly traumatised we recommend grooming that consists of services of a shorter time frame where bath and drying is undertaken at one session, nail clipping and ear cleaning at another, hair clipping at another and so on. These should be spaced a regular intervals of 1 week to aid the training process. We also offer a chargeable service of priority where we focus on your pet and only your pet for the duration of time they are here. Let the retraining begin

  • If for any reason you are not completely satisfied with the service received, please give us a call within 2 business days so we can do our best to rectify it. Pet parent’s satisfaction is important to us. We take great pride in our service and want Fancy’s pet parents too as well.

  • We accept cash, debit cards, master cards, visa and we also offer tap to pay.
